Classic rose petals and tar, meats on the nose. Medium to full bodied, broad-shouldered, chalky and furry tannins still remain, acidity woven underneath the tannins; tar and licorice notes predominant, some leather, a smidgen of red fruits, meaty, dried herbs, and long. Structured and brawny, can take more years in the cellar however not sure whether it will become more charming with time. Crying for a rich meat-dominant dish, or some good tajarin.

(mostly) 2001 Produttori Riserva Horizontal (Osteria Langhe, Chicago IL): Nose: This nose is firing on all cylinders and is drop, dead, gorgeous, filling the glass with red cherries, cranberries, raspberries, violets, roses, licorice, tobacco, earth notes, balsamico, and crushed rocks. There is so much going on with so much depth that it's almost a shame that this is in a wider lineup and can't just be enjoyed over the course of a night.
Taste: The feel is Medium/full bodied with tart, high acidity and silky, high tannins. There is still some noticeable structure, though it isn't overpowering. The feel is beautifully balanced and deep with regal tones of red cherries, raspberries, cranberries, licorice, herbs, roses, violets, earth, and balsamico notes.
Overall: This is the best bottle of Paje that I've had. This vineyard normally doesn't excite me like this, but on this night it was flat out amazing.

Licorice on the nose and palate. Good fruit And. Some unresolved tannins. Many years of life ahead. Probably will gain a point or two.

Monthly Tuesday group "The Dead Sparrow" #041: Barbaresco (By MW): In the bouquet mature impressions with some celery. On the palate chocolate, autumn impressions, dark berries and sweet licorice. Still a very good wine, but good this is my last bottle.
