  • Opened to breathe and then decanted for pizza night. More "wow factor" than my last bottle, now with great intensity of pure red fruit, bracing tannins, and consistent with my previous notes. Still plenty of life, 5+years, based on my sampling today.

  • Tasted alongside the 2008 at the Paitin property in October, and revisited now. This has entered peak drinking window i think, and will likely stay there for 6-8 years. sweet red cherry, forest floor, tobacco and cedarwood, some new leather as well as a touch of vanilla pod. perfectly integrated with a long and balanced finish. Sweet tannins. What a lovely wine

Day two sees the fruit develop a prune/plum note, so while it does has a lot of life left, i dont think it will benefit from more aging than it already has, if you wish to preserve the fruit

  • this was beautiful, full-minus body with dark red fruit and some wood elements, feels like (if you're disciplined) this would benefit from 10-15 years of age... in the meantime air is essential... wouldn't be afraid to decant over night the night before and then bottle in the AM (w/ or w/out gas)

  • Opened to breathe for 2h. Sandalwood, vanilla, spices on the nose, along with some red fruit compote. On the palate bright red fruit, oak, leather, earthy mushrooms, plenty of acid and some tannins in the finish. This is still big and masculine, but less WOW than the last time I tried it. Maybe it needs more air time.

  • Decanted for 2h. A soft nose of vanilla, roses, violets, and baking spices. On the palate intense red fruit, tar, more baking spices, fine tannins in the acid finish. Velvety and classy. After 3-4h in the decanter, the nose expanded outside the glass, the vanilla has blown off, and more violets and potting soil and baking spices now. Bigger and heavier on the palate now too, still classy, but more impactful red fruit, tar, mineral, acid and (interestingly) more chewy tannins. Pepper emerged in the finish too, after 4h in the decanter. Great complexity and evolution over time in the decanter. A beautifully structured, impressive nebbiolo with plenty of life ahead of it, glad I have more. I stand by my previous score, albeit for different reasons, this is a *wow* wine if you decant it for 3+ hours. 94/95
