What an experience this was! My first real look at "aged Barolo" I am a lover of Barolo in general and especially in the earlier pre-mature stages, but after this maybe not so much!
Unfortunately, this wine put off a ton of sediment, of which I got a fair amount in the decanter. Initially, this wine was closed, tannic, and felt almost dirty.
After 3–4 hours, this wine transformed into a beauty. Complex aromas that are honestly quite hard to distinguish. Cherry, plum, and earthy notes.
On the palate, this wine was dense, thought-provoking, and layered with complexity. Notes of plum, cherry, cocoa, earth floor, and hints of graphite occasionally. It has great, powerful fruit but is currently in a state where the other characteristics can really thrive. A long, silky finish that is just pure enjoyment.
A wine that I think still has years to come but is drinking wonderfully now.

Four hour decant. Translucent scarlet ruby. Nose of dense graphite, camphor, asphalt, airy violets, fennel. Layers of velvet-textured red plum and strawberry fruit cut with tar and rare earth. Lifted acidity and firm but fine-grained tannin. Long finish of plum, earth, noble tar, sweet strawberry. A beautiful wine.

Decanted for ~6 hours. Tasted side by side with the Vigna Chiniera. This was more primary and overt with tons of cherry and plum fruit. Rich and dense now, though the fruit is big enough to make it approachable and enjoyable. Upside from here as this gains subtlety and nuance.

Starting to show some garnet. With time it shows corkiness, too. Caramel and flowers in the nose. Velvety, concentrated fruit.

Rose paddles, leather, raspberry, red cherry, note of dark chocolate, espresso, medium body, in a great spot, great long aftertaste
