Barolo Ginestra: Bouquet of a gracefully aged Barolo with violets, some truffle and forest notes, but still some fresh red berries there. The palate is in perfect balance and it is quite long in the aftertaste.

Sometimes you just wait too long to open wines, they are just too full of good memories. This was bought on one of my first trips to Alba, a journey that opened my eyes to the wonders of Nebbiolo. And this wine will refute all those claiming that Nebbiolos do not age very well. Deep brownish colour, still with a dark cherry core. And the nose! First some sweet aromas reminiscent of dried cherries and prunes, then the automnal tones of wet earth and rotting leaves, finally giving way to an elegant black tea aroma in combination with raspberries. Stunning. Full bodied, almost sweet attack in the mouth, wonderful freshness, and tannins that have become rounded with time. Long, fresh and dry aftertaste with fascinating tones of tea, raspberries and dried fruit. Impressing. One of the best old Barolos I have ever tasted.

Blind tasting. Brief note. Pnp. Pruney, buttery stale popcorn and chalk on the nose. Palate is pruney, spicy, and definitely over the hill
