70 Pinot noir/30 Chardonnay. Blend of 12 harvests: 1943, 1947, 1959, 1988, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2011, 15% of which are very old vintages.
From a complexity standpoint, this isn’t high up the scale, but it’s quite an easy champagne to drink and enjoy. With the reserve wine usage, the golden color doesn’t come as a surprise. Yeasty/brioche aromatics with some caramel dipped golden delicious apple, honeycomb, tart apple crisp and just a faint note of limestone at the finish. I agree that for being extra brut, this has plenty of sweet/rich fruit.
At the price point, there are other options that deliver similar/equal (if not more) complexity and enjoyment, but fun to try this due to all the unique older vintages.

A little 'meh'. This one has good yellow fruit but is a little generic IMO. Still a cool and rather unique champers that was a good accoutrement to the rest of the ones on the table.

For an Extra Brut, this has bags of fresh fruit. The bottle and box does not say it but this is a blend of multiple older vintages going back 60 years! and the depth shows. Complex and sophisticated. Gardet is a medium sized house - the premises are industrial but the reception from the owner's wife was absolutely lovely and welcoming. It was such a contrast from Tattinger, a much bigger house where it was shiny and commercial - for the tourists.
