N Rhone Feast (Noizé): After a disappointing brace of Hermitages, a backup was generously opened. Senses were dulled a little by this stage but this was jolly nice stuff - again, blood and iron in the core, a certain almost gentle balance to it. Lovely stuff. Interestingly it looks like I had a few of these over a decade ago...evidently drunk far too young.

Suprisingly elegant, open and well-balanced. Opens a little poopy. After a few minutes this shows juicy meat notes, peppercorns, cinnamon, ash, cured ham, barnyard and dried flowers. Tannines fully integrated, medium acid. Very good.

short, but oh so delightful; great harmony. A bistro-wine. Oh, well, yes, but from the top shelf. Still very lively two days after opening, showing more depth, so I am opgrading. No hurry to drink this, no sin either.

3/7, OK cork - 30% soaked (uneven). Decanted 1/2 hr. Deep garnet core, pale garnet rim. A bit sweaty at first, came round to show spicy, meaty red fruit, touch of tapenade. Medium bodied, quite lean and fresh, red fruit, touch of black olive, earth, crisp acidity, tannins a touch furry on the medium/good length finish. Decent enough but nothing special.
