Piedmont Trip, Day 3- Elvio Cogno+Massolino (Barolo, Piemont, Italy): Nose: The nose shows off classic chardonnay tones of custard, red apples, vanilla beans, lemon curds, and some pear tones. The intensity is on the medium end of the spectrum with some malo thrown in as well.
Taste: Full bodied with medium+ acidity. The acidity is refreshing and crisp with the body showing off a plushness to it along with custard, red apples, vanilla beans, and pears.
Overall: This is an excellent chardonnay. It is well balanced and shows excellent acidity with an underlying richness to it. This is another successful example of chardonnay in the langhe.
