I'm glad Scholium made this wine, I'm glad I bought and drank it, but I still suspect that it is not an altogether successful experiment. It is effectively an orange wine, from whole cluster pinot grigio -- an attractive copper color, light body, with high but well-integrated acidity. It is not particularly aromatic, and the flavor profile is all mineral and metal rather than fruit. There's no need to complain vociferously about an $18 bottle (albeit a small bottle) that was interesting to drink, but it seems like a lot of effort went into thinking about and creating a wine that is not quite as good as many Muscadets that cost less.

Copper, strawberries and cream, and stone fruits. A bit of tannin to boot. Acid is medium-low and rounded body. I'd drink up. Wish there was a touch more acid, but this is nice. Not overtly funky like many scholium offerings but the finish is not completely clean either. It's a more rounded wine in the vein of Sylvain Pataille or Simone Roses. It's nice, but unlike those I'd drink this young.

Quite interesting, it's Scholium after all - and quite good. First time I've had what I'd characterize as a rose pinot gris. A little funky on the open but dissipated, but up front apples on the nose, followed by cherry. Good acidic backdrop and lingered.
