This is always a very easy drinking Malbec. The wine looks brick colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), plum, pineapple, light toast and nutmeg. It tastes like plum, pomegranate and light toast. The body is medium/full. The wine has satin-like texture. The wine finishes long.

Beyond drinking window, but was making lamb stuffed cabbage and decided to go for it!!! Wonderful...deep ruby color, but a taste that was rich in texture as well as taste. Subtle fruits and tannins that adequately stand up to and enhance the sweetness of the lamb and cabbage, and also compliment the cumin I used in the lamb.

Opened as a point of comparison with a rather disappointing Catena Alta Malbec 2007, a wine that we had previously found to be quite stunning. This wine, at this age, came surprisingly close despite an enormous price difference. Good fruit, acidity and balance (with some late hints of parsley). Not in the same bracket as the top Malbec but incredible value at the price paid some years ago. Price-wise, the Alamos Malbec is difficult to beat IMO, given some bottle age. Good next day.

Reliable as ever and great value. Still good, drinking well, and even better an hour or two after opening. At its best now - it won't improve significantly with further storage IMO. 89+
