Someone must have given this to me 10 years ago. Blown away how this - probably $7-10 wine drinks. Blown away that this cheap axx 2004 nonsense wine still is drinkable and not only that it's pretty good. At first pour the wine filled up the kitchen with rich aromas but then died down. Beautiful deep bright rich red color. No bricking - as clear as crystal....but red. Sat in the glass for 30 minutes while I was cooking and now the nose have come back. Cherries, raspberry, kind of a sweet oak almond paste combo. Drinking cherry, raspberry, licorice, oak, tannic. Fairly long finish and I say the last note is that of young oak but it lingers as red fruit. Pretty rich wine. I'm drinking it without eating and it is almost a bit too big by itself. I can't believe this is a 12 year old $8 bottle of wine. The acidity and tannins makes me believe if stored properly (which this was) this wine is till good for a while. I think my 88 has a bit of me being impressed with an $8 wine. If the cost was more maybe I'd give it less points.

Much nicer for me than other reviews would indicate, Clean and clear, consistent claret color to rim. On the nose a little pencil lead but lush red fruit very evident on the palate. Smooth and velvety balance with fruit and tannins in total harmony. Moderate finish. The extra years of bottle age have been very kind to this wine. For the original price ($9 at Costco) this is one of the best QPR bottles of the year.

The nose was typical of melbec. However, bottle was probably cooked in bad storage. Lacked character. Taste was one-dimensional.

sweet sugary nose.
First taste on mouth is very cherry, leaves a spicy alcoholic aftertaste.
Hasn't aged terribly well. Feels more one note now than I remember, needs some food with it.
