Drink up, fruit is fading fast. Some nice spicy notes after opening with some tar, tobacco and tappenade but after an hour or so it started to fall apart.

Texas Wine School Italian Wine Scholar Class. This blend of 50% Sangiovese and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Montalcino area has many Brunello-like qualities. The color is medium (+) ruby with garnet on the rim. The nose is clean, with black cherry, plume, currant. The palate is dry, with medium (+) acidity, medium (+) to high alcohol (14%) and medium (+), youthful tannins. The palate is consistent with the nose, with rich ripe fruit and oak-induced pencil shavings, cigar box and sweet baking spices, closing on a slightly bitter finish. The oak borders on being too prevalent. The body, flavor intensity and length are medium (+). This is a remarkably good blend and good value, which is likely to improve over the course of the next several years.

Deep dark red full body wine. Slight nose and closed fruit even after decanting. The 2010 vintage of the same wine was fantastic! This was not and my hope is that 3 more years will improve the fruit.
