100% Chardonnay. Attractive golden colour. Restrained nose and palate when first opened but showed good fruit and richness as it warmed and opened in the glass. Good balance but somewhat underwhelming early on. After 24h, the nose and palate were more forward, showing rich white peach, citrus fruit and oily character. The palate was still fresh but sweetened as it opened. Long with excellent acidity. A touch of oaky hardness on the late palate softened and disappeared with time. A much better wine a day after opening - I think it needs much more time to develop fully. If you open it at this stage, give it plenty of time and don't over-chill. Elegant, fine wine but really too expensive in UK at £27.50. Part of a tasting of Torres wines at Grand Union Wine Society with Nick Gent of Rodney Densem Wines and Ed Hobbs of John E. Fells Limited, UK Importers of Torres wines.
