Nose violets and tea. Soft, savoury, medium bodied, medium length. Good balance and complexity. Ready to drink now, don't think it ill develop more. 90

Flowers, green olives, ripe red, crisp fruits and thyme aromas stand out here. The wine has lift, freshness and finishes with elegantly textured red plums and black pepper.

Good. Less than excellent and not great QPR at £40, at least right now. Takes some time to open up, a good 3 to 4 hours. Initial taste is red fruit, some residual sugar, and very mild pepper hints. Finish is fairly short. After it warms up, it develops more savoury notes, sugar becomes less noticeable, pepper slightly more so, but it's never a big thing. A stemmy herbiness starts emerging. Everything comes together in one little hit with each sip, it doesn't really have waves of flavour, and it's all over a bit quickly. Mild fairly elegant tannins, but deceptively chewy. Acidity feels like it cuts through the tannins. I'd be pleased to pay £20 for this, £30 feels like too much.

2015 Rhone Tasting (Spectrum Wine - Tustin CA): Tasting, brief note. 90% Syrah, 10% Viognier from Côte Blonde. Wonderfully floral with ripe black and red fruit. Moderate weight and length. Enjoyable already now. Less cellarworthy vs Madinière.

The Grand Tour - day five (Bordeaux): Polished oak dominates the proceedings over violets, black pepper, spice and some blackberry, cream and slight vanilla. Juicy, rich, again the oak is the fore with black fruits. The spice is more muted here, Long, rich and polished. Perhaps a little too much.
