If there ever was a best-buy barolo, this is it. Believe I paid the equivalent of 40 USD for this and it is absolutely beautiful. A light, classic expression of barolo and ready to go now.

Great food wine. Light extraction, but still full of flavor. Bright red cherry. A little red candied fruit upfront. Medium finish Paired well with lobster and filet mignon.

The 2012 Barolo Cascina Nuova is all class. Baking spices, red roses, clove, pine and candied red fruit meld together in an appealing bouquet that’s ever-evolving in the glass. There’s superb balance and a finessed texture that make this Barolo so easy to drink, and traces of minerality on the finish that bolster the wine’s complexity. Delicious now, but I would suggest laying this down a couple more years if you can muster the patience.

Rather pure on the nose, nice lift, slightly floral, not too much depth. Very well balanced - not overly ripe and generous, fresh, grippy, slightly spicy. Nice length. 90-91+
