high toned, tart cherry, star anise - seems young. High quality wine that develops well in the glass. This was very good with pasta and meatballs. My wife loved it. I enjoyed it, but it is a little more tart than I like for pasta. Might pair better with mushrooms or salami and cheese

My third and last bottle, and consistent with the prior two. It has the tart cherry and grippy finishing tannins, as well as some pleasing spice. I can't wait to find more Cappellano.

Red fruit, asian spices, flowers, and herbs on the intriguing nose. Pronounced but soft tannins with good acidity, more red fruit, and übrige cherries on the palate. Nice finish.

Dolcetto is not a grape one looks to for transcendent experiences, but this Cappellano is about as close as there is. The balance of red fruit, spice and the grape's tannic backbone is pitch perfect. Find some and enjoy!

Through sheer luck I have been able to drink quite a bit of Cappellano lately. Nebbiolo d'Alba while in Torino was a supreme treat, and now Dolcetto at home is another treat. The elegance and grace of these wines amazes me every time I pull a cork. It's not just some mix of fruit and tannin, but an experience that transcends the grape. I really should not finish a bottle on a Monday night, but the wine is too compelling, too complete, too easy to sip and enjoy moment after moment. These wines are hard to source, but like all great treasure they are worth the hunt.
