  • An excellent wine. Fascinating to have enjoyed 2015 last month, and now the 2014 bottling. Decanted the 2014 for one hour (not sure if it was enough) and took it to dinner. Missing the perfumed aromatic roses of the 2015, but had some flowers (violets?), strawberries, raspberries, then a sensation of ash, earth, herbs / vegetal. High and elegant mouth watering acidity, some minerality, and the tartness of cherries. There was also the caramelized smokey grilled meat aroma in there somewhere. Upon swallowing there is a finish and after taste that lingers on the palate for a duration of up to 17 seconds. In an early drinking window, but quite phenomenal with food (especially stronger heavier proteins). Definitely dryer than the 2015, less elegance. I'd say lay them down if you have more and try again in a few years and more. Or just open one and have some strong proteins and great rich sauced dishes with it.

  • This 2014 Tuapenot-Merme Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru is truly entering its prime right now. Packed with a medley of red and black fruit, tertiary qualities of the wine are now creeping in and integrating across good acidity and freshness. A good vintage, this wine feels like a good example of a classic Burgundian style and is a bottle I will be re-buying and cellaring for years to come.

  • Densité moyenne pour un PN, les arômes de fruits noirs sont légers. Présence d’épice douce et d’une certaine masculinité. Ça pinotte. Manque de profondeur et de complexité pour noter plus fort.

  • The Wine Club Tour de France (San Francisco): Pale. Slight barnyard. Light weight but enough volume, cool black fruit, nice earthy feel, excellent acidity. This could use a few years but puts 2014 in a favorable light for its more classic structure and delicacy.
