Popped and poured at a restaurant. Really disappointing. It's either in a dumb phase or needs tons and tons of air, I'm leaning towards the former.
Nose is pretty shut. Faint aromas of baking spices but not much else. Palate starts similar, but starts to develop with 1-2 hours, showing sappy red berries and structure with the acidity. You can call it balanced, but altogether totally reserved. This was like a 3 out of 10 on the expressive scale and I was hoping for at least a 6 or 7.

Wonderful Burgundy - showing the evidence of the ripe vintage, but remaining classic and typical. Rich (but utterly Old World) fruits and undergrowth, very long, already really easy to drink. Amazing to think how good this could be when fully mature.

K&L Burgundy Tasting (Summer 2018) (K&L Hollywood): Less refined imo than the Fourrier; probably needs a fair amount of time to settle down. Glorious ripe nose, showing brawnier darker red fruits. On the palate, loads of nice acidity but maybe a touch of VA; maybe a bit more disjointed; grainy tannin on the finish.

Pale red. A bit of reduction. Medium weight with prominently woody foundation. Black and red fruit, oak spice, a touch of earth, astringent tannins. Not bad but not distinguished either. Too much wood for my taste.
