  • I like it, but I am not sure I would want another bottle even if I could buy the exact same vintage, but I really wanted to try the combination of 2014 and Fourchaume. I am starting to think 2014 is an extremely highly overrated vintage... it's a bit too focused and linear (yes even for Dauvissat Forest 2014 and Fevre MdT 2014) but it is vintage nonetheless where with enough aging you get plenty of focused nuance and subtle complexity in spades with the right producer. However this is also strictly preference and producer dependent. As far as this bottle goes, it was acquired through a private collector, the cork was wet about 2 inches up (but in good shape), guessing it was natural cork. The wine was unaffected, no reduction, but took about 30 mins in the glass to blossom some more. Surprisingly not much oak notes and whatever was detected came about because of the cream sauce and mushrooms from my Coquilles Saint Jacques entree.

Lots of aromatic lemon and pith, fragrant bitter that was very elegant, and a good quality sour with nice acidity...but not as full bodied as I had thought. As a result even tried and true food to match is not exactly a perfect match, but this could be the style of the producer. I don't necessarily think this will be better with age (9 years already, an extra one year won't make a lot of difference) until you want to wait till the tertiary characteristics come out and by then who knows how long the cork will last. If I try this producer again I would want to experience one of their 1er cru's younger like 3 to 5 year mark and see how it is.

  • Young greenish gold. Classic aromas of citrus, green apples, chalk and oysters. Medium bodied, high acidity, citrus snd chalk in a sleek construction. Long, very fresh, aftertaste. Will get better in 2-3 years.

  • Crisp, classic Chablis shows the consistency of the 2014 vintage. Nose of apple, citrus blossom, and crushed rock. Balanced acidity.
