  • This is a lovely wine, drinking beautifully right now. Yes you can hold on a bit longer but me, I’d drink it soon as can’t imagine that time will let it evolve any further.

  • {screwcap, 13%} Attractive fading garnet. Fabulous nose of smoke, earth, tobacco, rotting strawberries and forest floor. Fresh compost, always clean though! It’s only just medium bodied, with polished, developing flavours per the nose, softly resolved dusty tannins, and medium acidity. Even palate, medium length finish. The nose is wonderful, the palate doesn’t quite have the length or depth you then expect, due to the fading tannins, but goodness, this is a lovely mouthful of wine. Close to peak I reckon, will be fine to hold for a few years but I doubt there’s more interest to come.

  • Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of light ruby colour, with fading garnet rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium intensity aromas of red fruit of ripe sweet cherries, strawberry and plum, floral notes of violet, mineral notes of stony, oak notes of cigar box, maturity notes of mushroom. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium tannin of ripe and silky texture, medium alcohol, with medium (-) body and medium intensity flavours of red fruit of cherries, raspberry and plum, mineral notes of stony, oak notes of vanilla. The wine has a medium finish.
Conclusion: Very good quality Australian Pinot Noir with a reasonably intense nose showing good complexity with a nice red fruit and floral fragrance, showing good development and elegant oak and development notes. On the palate the wine is well-balanced with delicate and robust flavors, fair in concentration with a decent length on the finish. It is ready to drink now and can maintain for another 3-5 years.

  • {screwcap, 13%} Huge contrast to the flowery Tasmanian pinot before it; this was developing, dirty and earthy, in a clean (ie. not bretty) sense, but very much about earth and mushrooms and blackened fruits, not pretty and floral at all. Medium gritty tannins, medium acid, medium/full-bodied in a rustic, almost coarse way; likely to develop considerably further I suspect, but the result won't be 'pretty' in the conventional sense. Interesting; very much more old world than you might expect. Medium length finish, but a bruiser of a wine; don't come here looking for charm.

  • Dark cherry, plum, cloves and oak, the fruit has some depth, but also sophistication. Medium bodied with decent length and nicely integrated acidity. I enjoy this style of pinot.
