Nose has a hint of Brett barnyard, major floral notes of lavender and rose, myrtle. Cherry. Some other red fruit. Palate well balanced, ample acid, astringent herbal notes and serious fruits.

I concede that this may not appeal to everyone because of its highly perfumed nose and strange bitterness on the finish but, for me, it charmed helped by a fresh acidity, in which Négrette is supposed to be deficient, which complemented well the fullness of the vintage. Very good.

I liked this better than the previous bottle. The exotic perfumes were still present but better balanced and it seemed fresher than I noted before. As always there is an agreeable, to me, bitterness on the finish but it may not appeal to everyone. Very enjoyable. Good+

Pretty bretty but I like it notes Bill. Bit of hard cherry and cardboard on the nose. A touch mean, a touch farmy, like its out on the range, and edgy.

I like this a lot less than its predecessors because of a strong perfume of lychee and spice which I almost might have confused with Gewurztraminer but for the colour and tannins. Add to this fuller body, firmer structure and perhaps less acidity and I found the result somewhat disjointed and less appealing. It will be interesting to see if the remainder of the bottle has integrated better after 24 hours. Only quite good.
Retasted on 2/21/2018, it has indeed improved a lot. Notes of berry fruit, especially sweet cherry, have emerged and are now mingled into the lychee and spice aromas and this alters the balance favourably to much more like previous vintages. I increase my rating to 88 and advise consumers to decant in the next year or so.
