I was totally surprised as to how green this wine was. Had it been blind I would have guessed Chilean Cab with the obvious green pepper/salad thing going on right out of the glass. I can say with confidence that this was my first experience with '99 Napa Petite Sirah and while tannins and acid were still very much alive, much of what was probably charming about this years ago wasn't. Fruit had gone secondary in a less than attractive manner and finish was a touch astringent. A cool time capsule, but drink 'em if you got 'em.

OK, the wall of tannins is certainly gone, but nothing much came to take its place. Not memorable.
