Grand Opening of Kampai bar (Auckland CBD): Dark berries, mushroom and savoury flavours. Completely mellowed, dense, rich. M+ body, moderate acidity, fine grained tannins, all smooth and round texture with a sweet fruity concentrated core. Some creamy notes in m+ finish.
Can’t believe it’s 25 year old. Still have complete and solid structure, energetic and vigorous, what a long live Pinot Noir! Far beyond my cognition on NZ PN, I thought 12 year cellaring is reasonable to top end NZ PN, 15 years reaches boundary, seems I underestimated those NZ Grand Crus.
Ap 5/5, Ar 13/15, Palate 18/20, Overall 5+5/10 Total 96/100

This benefited from decanting due to sediment. The nose is balanced, with slight sweetness and spices. There is ripe fruit on the medium to full bodied palate, with medium plus acidity. This could be starting to crack up soon.

Out of 5 bottles I bought at an auction, the first two were heat struck. So I opened the third bottle without expectations. What a positive surprise. First shy, it gained in the glas every minute. Hints of brown, but still nice red. Quite mature, beautiful nose. Classic Pinot. Sweetness, Forrest floor and fruits on the palate, long aftertaste. Nicely complex. I really enjoyed it. Worth a search, if you are into mature wine and if it comes from the right providence.

Very nice. Excellent balance and fruit. I'm pleasantly surprised by how well this wine has aged.
