This cool and gamey Cabernet blend is drinking fine right now, but I share the doubts of my CT brethren as to whether this will ever be a great wine. For many years, I was excited about this project - Cabernet in the Central Coast with a Napa pedigree - but I've bought and tasted plenty of these wines, with more disappointments than successes. I had an impressive 2005 Desafio at the 15-year mark, but this particular wine is rich, burnt, meh.
Dark purple in color and full in body, the wine offers meaty aromas of rosemary, espresso, and grilled lamb. The flavors are similarly dense and dark, with notes of boysenberry, ribeye, and dried eucalyptus, followed by a finish that is integrated but still damp (read: not acidic). Blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cab Franc. Jonata wines can be tannic young, but this tastes too ashen at the nine-year mark. It holds together, but not in a very exciting way (especially at $130+).

This bottle was drinking great after half a day of air. A dark concentrated concoction of blue/black fruits blended with savory coffee grounds and herbs. There was sufficient acidity and tannic structure to support the heaviness.
I felt this was drinking close to around the peak after the aeration. This was an enjoyable glass to sip late in the evening.

Its a really nice bordeaux blend -- very rich and opulent with a long finish -- for me, it just doesnt quite have the fullness of the fruit, or enough structure to balance the oak presence in this vintage, at this stage but still a really enjoyable wine
The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like oak, vanilla, black currant (cassis) and plum. The body is full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium/long. The wine has medium acidity.

Quick double decanted for about 10 min and consumed during 2 hours listening to Jazz in the Gables.
The wine is bold, dark and solid in tannins and structure, it’s dry and fairly (sort of) complex.
Medium finish and not too memorable, I don’t expect to remember it in a week for now.
