  • Having a small vertical of vintage 2013, 2014 and 2015 side by side.

All 3 vintages are very identical with very small differences, also it could be that the wine maker was very good to get his wines consistent. Even though, the wine are relatively youthful, as wine evolve in the bottle, the outcome will be probably more significant.

All of them have pronounced nose intensity with notes of red cherries, strawberry and primarily red fruits. Still youthful and comes withe medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Tannin is polished.

The differences after tasting side by side is that 2014 have more freshness and probably more classic whereas 2015 is surprisingly now more approachable and palate feel warmer with some notes of mushroom. 2013 by its own will be nice but when placed side by side, the weak vintage and weather is probably the reason why the lower rating when compared.

  • Dinner with one Burg and a couple Marcassin Pinot's.
The Burg, if tasting blind, would guess Ohio Pinot, not worth the $30.
But nooooo, this is high end Burg, tannin says hi, does not leave a lasting impression.
Searching for fruit, its their if you have a good imagination.
Four of us did not finish the bottle.
The Marcassins delivered, made the dinner special.
What and the heck is up with Marcassin, almost three years between offers?

  • The Chambertin-Clos de Bèze 2015 from Domaine Robert Groffier presents a color of a beautiful fresh ruby. The nose evokes ripe cherries, crunchy with a good intensity. The palate is masterful, with great precision. The correctness of the balance is remarkable. The aromas of red and black berries are intense. The volume is there, the persistence is very long.

  • Great to get a glimpse of the new style of 2015 Groffier Chambertin Clos de Beze, more modern in style compared to the more nuanced style in the 00s. Tasted blind - Slightly reductive with an exuberant nose of violet, ripe and fleshy blueberries and cassis. Juicy and glossy with high toast new oak. Full bodied, proper Grand Cru weight and intensity. Gevrey Chambertin Grand Cru? Fourrier? 2015? (90+/100)
