Angelica Wine Club - New Zealand (Sawa Restaurant, Stanley Street): "Rose but very Turkish Delight with pear and lychee. On the palate it's warm, textured, viscose in fact and spiced with alcohol heat. It' lacks a little acidity and finishes with a little bitterness. I guessed Gewurztraminer, Central Otago and 2016"

Pyramid Valley (Best Cellars, Crown Street): Waxy, pear and pear skin, slight baked quite, muted spice. Juicy, spicy and quite tart, again some skin contact but les than the Riesling and, again, some non-intrusive though present alcohol warmth and, again, a little lacking on the fruit side. Hmm.

Pyramid Valley new releases: Orange peel, graphite and light herbs. Quite rich on the palate, I feel that the alcohol sticks out a little bit, however there is good texture and acidity, with some spark that lifts the wine nicely. If the alcohol settles over the next year or two this should drink nicely.
