A 1974 Napa Retrospective (Zunfthaus zur Waag Zürich): As the volcanic hill, this had a cristal-clear red fruit nose was elegant and had a good length, but in comparison this was quite light-bodied and lacked the breath and intensity of the volcanic hill

Heavenly nose, minty, eucalyptus, dark berries, red cassis, smoke, spice box; elegant but still concentrated, still youthful, in amazing shape, great wine. WOTN for me. Dal Rae dinner

1974 California Tasting (Cafe Boulud): Palate fatigue starting to kick in at this point of the evening (19th wine tasted, not counting the 1975 Moet champagne to kick off the night). Many tasters found the Diamond Creek's very tannic although I did not find the tannins overwhelming. This had very nice menthol on the nose and was remarkably well preserved. Very classic cabernet. 1974 Cali Cab tasting

Jean-Luc Thunevin Dinner (Chanterelle, NYC): Beautiful nose. Young and peppery with red and purple fruits. On the palate, this is young and vibrant. And Delicious!!! Excellent purple fruit. Just a beauty and still sto young. Jean-Luc Thunevin pointed out that this may be a great wine but you need to wait another 5-10 years to really enjoy it!

Red fruit and varnish notes; some caramel to the nose. Red, dusty fruit and a sharp, older, finishing acidic streak. Heady. A bit old, but enjoyable.
