Barossa winemaker Rusden entry level wine, 80% Shiraz, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, vintage 2015. Blackcurrant dominating the aromas but also strawberry, cedar, cinnamon and vanilla Should be full body but feels more medium+. Strong vibrant acidity that I find a hallmark of the Rusden wines (despite the hot climate) that goes up against a very strong fruit sweetness and alcohol level. Overall ok balance but to the fruity side. Relatively short finish without much complexity. A bit too expensive for what you get

Moncur Syrah/Shiraz (Bistro Moncur, Sydney): Savoury spice, peppery fruit but tight. Needs a decant to help open up. Red berry and currant fruit. A little short.
