Aerated to decanter for 3 hours, served blind to two friends - both whom have probably had this at least once, though maybe not this particular vintage. That said, it was voted WOTN, and both of their palates, like mine, curve heavily toward traditionally-styled wines. This is vinified using automated punchdowns, temperature control, and sees ~ 22 months in (80% new) Fr. barrique. That said, the aeration, and Giorgio's very deft touch with oak rendered a wine that was balanced, fresh, deep and most certainly elegant and gorgeous. Given the structure and freshness, this has another ~ 15 years, perhaps more, at this high level. highly recommended
Accidentally opened instead of a 2011. Poured through an aerator and left in decanter for an hour. Thankfully we were drinking with a roast pork belly. Obviously a big wine but the acidity and tannins were better integrated than I expected at this age. More modern in style, little eucalyptus but nice violet nose. Enjoyable but young, I can't wait for it to mellow and the fruit to become less concentrated.

$15 per glass at a wine bar. Light to medium ruby, clear; moderately aromatic with complex black fruit, a fresh minerality, slight funk which blows off with air; palate is youthful, high tannin but approachable, denser fruit but with fresh high acid; medium finish. Well put together, and a good wine, but not a great one for my palate. 88 With 15 minutes of air, some elegant roses show up on the nose.

{winery visit} Profoundly complex and deep, with a dozen+ layers of ripe fruit that, absent the core of this wine's generous acidity, might otherwise be too much. Drink on release, or in 30 years, either way, you win. highly recommended
