High score but it was terrific good. Dark color with sweet fruit. Yet mineral and filled the mouth with a lovely spice. One of my first Volnay and sure hard to beat…I am impressed.

Volnay with Jasper Morris MW (67 Pall Mall): Very 2015, with its deep colour and sweet fruit. A touch of Brett gives complexity rather than being off-putting. Tangy and spicy, with notes of Chinese tea.

Domaine Clos de la Chapelle Dinner (Cafe Boulud - New York NY): In 17/16/15/10 vertical. Lots here, but this clearly requires patience. Ripe and powerful with a brooding, nearly sullen character. Tough to assess, but I am optimistic, even if I doubt this will ever equal the 2016.

La Paulée de Los Angeles - The Verticals (Maybourne Hotel - Beverly Hills CA): Vertical. Firm but the wine's elegance easily shows. Red and black cherry with good+ density. This will be the best of the vertical, but not yet today, 90-91 point potential.
