Wonderful nose right off the bat of roses, iron, cherries, leather, barnyard, truffle. Ethereal combination of intense fruit yet weightlessness on the palate. Very refined tannins and long finish with chocolate and mocha. Even on 2nd day this was still closed and tight - needs another 10 years at least. Fascinating wine but I wouldn’t recommend opening now. MC2s note makes a lot of sense to me but based on this showing, it’s closed down further since then.

Return to Piemonte!; 11/25/2021-12/4/2021 (Castello di Sinio, Alba, other various locations): The first vineyard that the Ceretto family bought in Barbaresco and the site of their barbaresco single vineyard production. At the top of the hill. This was very closed and then just kept getting more amd more expressive throughout the meal. This was elegance. Had next to a champagne which is usually a sweet spot for me esp at lunch time but the weightless power of this had me coming back to the glass over and over (while the champagne in comparison felt a bit clunky). Really lovely even so young.
