Lodevole sauvignon estremamente equilibrato e molto piacevole.

Friday Tasting Group: "Killer Bar" (#05 for me) (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): “100% S.B. (more French than Italian clones), ave age 21 yrs, planted with E-W & N-S exposures in the rather shallow, with generous gravel-pebbly texture, sand-silt (of a reddish hue due to presence of ferrous and aluminum oxides), well drained soils of the 101 ft elev Vieris Vyd; Harvested 9/10, 12, & 15/2015; Destemmed with pre-fermentation cold maceration @ 46° F, ff’d by cold settling; Fermented for 23 days @ 61-66° F using selected yeast strains, malolactic being blocked; Aged 9 mos on the lees [1 source saying in barriques, though the winery doesn’t specify the vessel] ff’d by natural clarification is s/s; Bottled 7/22 & 23/16, then bottle-aged 8 mos; 13.80% ABV, 5.45 g/L T.A., & 3.35 pH.”
N: Peaches with notes of cat pee; Intensity lurking?
P: Med, poss, MF body; RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt firmed by an acidity which controls the action into & through the LONG, very, VERY slightly bitterish finish. I'm thinking this may well improve with another 6 mos or so, then drink through '22? IF not, my EXC- (90,91/100 using that metric) would be high. 96 pts Suckling & 89 WE @ $47 (8/1/17). [As of late Oct '19, wine-searcher still shows 1 source @ $37].
Note: Good naturedly panned by MOST of the participants (they found grass/cat pee MARKEDLY on top), *I* was grateful for its inclusion as I was previously TOTALLY unaware the region produced such a style. ;)

Oh wow
Leaps out of a cold bottle
Beautiful honeyed floral notes
Fresh and on the light side to begin
Picked up weight as it opened up

This is a slight perfume, mild tang, overall not so good. No personality to the wine.
