Gorgeous. Deep intense damsons, blackberries and earthy forest floor. The classic Barolo notes of tar and dried rose petals are there but quite muted at this point. I would expect these notes to increase with age. Medium plus weight. Great balance of fruit and structure, though the fruit is not as big as with many of their single vineyards. The acidity and tannins provide plenty of grip and lift. Long and complex already. Drinking perfectly now.

Glass from coravin at Locatelli after quite a bit of other wine. I can see why Gaja is special. This was very good, but young and perhaps from a weaker year. The reviews below are spot on, but I liked this more than the last reviewer!

Wine Spectator 40th Anniversary; 10/21/2021-10/23/2021 (Marriott Marquis): Sharper notes. There's tar and balsamic and more traditional style of barolo. Less of the fruit and floral to it. Still quite young so perhaps with some more time. Very interesting story though of Gaja building a business over many generations.

NYWE. Pretty aromas of classic roses and tar with big black cherries. Dark dry rich firm dense flavors burst in beautiful mouth filling way. Gourgous. Complex and very well made. Young, but drinking, very long life ahead. Impressive.
Single vineyard. Over 70 year old vines.

Clearly Italian, but still a little green and underripe ripe, austere, no signs of oak, it’s correct and good for type but lacks anything special
