Bought a bottle for 29.5 euros from the wine list of a better restaurant outside Bonn. Best German retail I see on Wine-searcher Pro is 13e. Rich, dark purple; subdued black fruit nose with some tar; surprisingly good mouthfeel for a cold-climate red with subdued black fruit; bit of persistence. Delicious, probably the best of its type that I've tasted, albeit a limited sample. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable+ when considering quality, age, and price. I would be inclined to order again at that restaurant price and to buy some at the best retail.

Alto Adige Reds: Light purple color. Peppery burst on the nose with anise, grilled herbs and dry rub spices on top of black cherries and violets. Medium-bodied, balanced nicely with a light dose of tannins and medium acidity. Pure black cherry, tart plum, lots of pepper and clove, leather and smoke, campfire and coffee grounds. Very nice, delicious, complex stuff, this is great now but could actually age for a few years, too.

PNP. cork perfect. color is dark purple. nose has a little stink w dark fruits - blue and blackberry. swishing shows acid and mellow tannin that is mostly overwhelmed by the extracted fruit. sipping shows perfect balance between structure and fruit. the tannins are all stem/skin and are not obtrusive despite the suspected long maceration- maybe the fruit was just super ripe. definitely not over-ripe. the finish is med long. this manages to thread the needle between extraction, fruit ripeness and alcohol (which is not really evident). very cool wine

Generic. Tastes half of what it costs. Palatable with pizza.
