Pop and pour. Dark purple color. Nose offers cherries and chocolate. Flavors remind me of chocolate covered cherries, with an initial sweet profile. Ripe fruit but there is some acidity that prevents it from being candied. Over time, the sweetness dissipates and the flavors move towards ripe black plum. Enjoyable but I don't understand how Luca Maroni gave this 99 points.

Dark purple-ruby color. Sweet vanilla oak and black cherry aromas. Fleshy palate; full bodied with good freshness and ample grip. Ripe, primary finish. Still young and should gain complexity with time. 3.5/5

Er werden slechts zo'n 10.000 flessen gebotteld. 99 Punkte vergab Weintester Luca Maroni für den 2014 und die 2015 Corte Medicea Athos. 08-03-2018, 17 gr C. Nice, good, round, smooth, but also lots of matter (lightly filtered ?), enough soft tannins, only a very little bit of complexity and a little too short. 11-03-2018 Same 20-03-2018 Only bottom left, over the top, already getting a little bit acid, vinegar-like and that is rather quick, so not a long keeper ? Conclusion: nice wine, very will made, lots of matter, lots of somewhat sweet, jammy fruits, the 14%Abv is integrated, but makes it sweet too, nice soft/silky tannins, but lacks complexity and length to give it a 90/100 or more. So I stick to 88 to 89. It will most likely improve in 2 to 4 years and maybe in 6 to 8 years, but there is no need (and also too risky ?) to keep it for a much long time ?
