  • Gamey, prune, saddle leather, herbaceous back end, red apple skin, seems like something where you'd want to watch out for secondary fermentation in bottle, some dried fruit influence here; interesting.

  • Deep garnet reflecting the licorice and black cherry notes. Medium to full body with smooth tannins and bright acidity leading to a lingering finish.

  • A blend of Malbec (70%) and lightly raisined Corvina (30%). Aged for 9 months in barriques. Tasted blind in VV.

Almost completely opaque black cherry color. Meaty, even very slightly funky nose with aromas of peppery spice, blood sausage, some toasty wood, a little bit of fresh red berries, a hint of mocha and a touch of dried dark fruits. The wine is full-bodied, dry and surprisingly non-fruity on the palate with flavors of peppercorns, fresh blackberries, some savory wood spice, a little bit of cocoa, light meaty tones, sanguine hints of blood and a touch of sour cherry bitterness. The wine is moderately high in acidity with balanced medium tannins. The finish is quite long and savory with flavors of dark fresh fruits, some earth, a little bit of savory wood, light peppery spice and a hint of plummy fruit.

A nice, balanced and savory wine, but also a little bit underwhelming: it seems the wine is missing some fruit, but the other flavors really don't manage to fill that void, making the wine come across as slightly hollow. Nevertheless, this is a quite enjoyable effort for a new world red, showing good sense of structure and balance, despite its shortcomings. Priced according to its quality at 13,99€.
