I typically drink more German style Rieslings, and I found this to be a bit different. It has the Riesling nose, but is clearly a bolder style. Deeper yellow color, fleshy and fuller bodied. The alcohol came across as a bit too hot for my taste, otherwise very good wine.

Simply gorgeous. Aromas of lemon candy, juicy melon, sweet yellow apple, cooling herbs, white flowers, sea breeze and crushed stone. Juicy and silky, starting to show a touch of savory and oxidative development, but it is still very much in a fresh state, and I expect it to develop for many more years. Spicy and rich on the mid-palate, yet cooling and refreshing on the finish, with complex citrus, herbal and stoney nuances lingering long. Powerful as Riesling goes, but light on its feet for Smaragd. Really amazing stuff.
