A few days in Napa with fellow CT'r Cristal2000: The one thing I was curious about with this sample was the integration of the Viognier element. Past infant Sumos have been overridden by the floral component put out by the Viognier, masking what would be the attractive core fruit expression from the Petite Sirah. Being that this 2015 has had some time to absorb its dollop of Viognier, I found it to be wonderfully lifted but also pushing out beautiful blue and black fruit. More time is needed in my opinion, but the 2015 Sumo is on a great path to excellence inside of a few years more in bottle.

This is a massive wine that will need extended ox or aging to show best. If you're sitting on bottles I would give it another 6 plus for further development.
Open a 2010 to show the guest the payoff.

This one had a LOT going on, but sadly a little bit of VA happening also. Making this wine a very complex balsamic vinegar. I have another bottle, think I'll set it aside for a bit.

The wine was drinking beautifully this evening. It was fully resolved, ample fruit, and soft palate through the finish. I recommend opening up the bottle at this time and enjoying it with cheese, salad or lamb. The cab Franc and Merlot blend is the perfect combination for a balanced, soft and full-bodied wine.
Tasted alongside the 19'. I bought a couple bottles of this. Very good and a was a nice departure from the Cabernet/Bordeux blended wines I have been immersed in the last few years. I can't wait to expose this to other people.
