  • As is typical of Keplinger’s Sumo, I enjoyed this vintage. It is much sweeter than typical upon opening, but settled down after about an hour to be what I expected. Can enjoy this now or wait many years.

  • We were initially surprised to be greeted with a bit of sweetness not characteristic of PS, but after a couple of hours it behaved more like its pedigree and opened up well.

  • Being that this was my first real exposure to Keplinger wines, I was a tad overwhelmed by amount of wines that she produces and with having little experience in the Rhone/Cotie varietals, there was a bit of an intimidation factor when approaching these wines. That being said, the 19' Sumo was a pleasure to drink. It was overshadowed by the 15' Sumo I had to see what some age does to these wines and I was pleasantly surprised.

  • 2019 Sumo was in the lineup along with Lithic for the 3rd year of Wine & Wagyu.

2019 seems to me a more elegant vintage. Less teeth staining force than I'm used to in such a young PS. Now I'm sure for some at WW3 this was WOTN for the Rhone lineup. I might be unfairly comparing this to the best vintages of Sumo with 10 years of age so please keep that in mind. This will more than likely get there with time.

Cork was pulled at 10am and replaced after 15 minutes. Placed back and the cellar and opened for pairing at 7 pm. Showed very well
