Wife wanted me to grill some hamburgers and fresh veg, and that usually spells Cab or Bordeaux. So, this is 10 years on, a handful of years since the last one I drank, and not reserved for any particular purpose. Drink up! Notes as before, but the loss of a bit of freshness has not translated into something savory and more complex. It's Cab, it's good to very good Cab, but greatness is not really showing itself here. As before, it did blossom a bit, or maybe I just generally had drunk of the milk of human kindness, but we had no problem finishing the bottle. Wife liked it more than I did, so I wouldn't hesitate to buy again at this price, if I was buying much cab these days.

I like this a lot more than I did 3.5 years ago. Time has been good for this Oakville Cab. Dark, rich, complex fruit flavors - with an element of dust. Tannins have smoothed out. Good QPR at this point.

Opened and decanted an hour ahead of roasted chuck roast and mixed squash and potatoes. Dark, inky-purple color. The nose brings cherry blossoms, pencil lead, sweet tobacco, blackcurrant, and herbs. The palate is full, compact, and silky, bringing deep blueberry, plum, and blackberry notes mixed with red cherries, mint, chocolate raspberries, and coffee bean into a refined finish. This is still primary and needs a few more years to reveal full concentration and fruit delineation. Drink 2023-2030. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 92.

This was much more open and approachable than the bottle I tried a year ago. Vibrant, clear deep ruby color, bordering on purple. Pronounced aromas and flavors of red and black currant, tart blackberries, juicy black plum, ripe cherry, mocha, and cigar tobacco, all underscored with dry, dusty red dirt. Fruits are balanced with still chewy tannins and medium plus acidity. Long finish. Decanted and enjoyed with grilled pork chops and peppers, and onions. Very much in the development phase; can drink now with hearty food and decanting, but will improve with further cellaring. Drink now through 2030+.

Terrific cab and a few years of bottle age made it even better. Thanks for your art and craft, Nils, we’ll done!
