  • Blackberry, cranberry, violets, olive brine, thyme, black pepper, smoke. Medium body & acidity. Medium-light tannins. Medium-plus finish. At or near peak - drink in the next 2-3 years.

  • Tasted over 2 hrs
-med dark red purple tinge mild clearing
-pretty high-toned darker fruit distinct wet stone licorice
-med/med+ acidity, med- weight dark berry juniper quickly morphs into a pronounced and not entirely pleasant bitter licorice medicinal finish with med- tannins
-first time with this wine, nice nose but rather disjointed palate, perhaps an off bottle

  • Really good Syrah but pretty acidic. Surprisingly so.

  • Damn, not a single TN here? I decided to open my only bottle I had tonight, enjoyed with macaroni and cheese that I added some fresh ground black pepper. Had to make the syrah feel at home.....! This started off slow, kind of pillowy and soft-edged but with some dialed in aromatics. With air, about an hour, this began to fill in and lean up some too, which helped. The aromatics show a campfire/hot ember, smoke and herb. Once the palate filled in, this improved, becoming creamy with tangy red fruit, rosemary and licorice. Encouraging to see how the oxygen transformed this bottle from when I pulled the cork to when I wrote this note. Saving 1/2 bottle for tomorrow to see if there is more evolution but this came around nicely....similar on Day 2, with a jammy edge that comes through now. This is listed at 13.8%, which seems like a bigger wine for a Wells syrah, too.
