  • I can only agree with winebairgainhunter. We had it on its own but it clearly needed food. Even then there wasn't much interesting. Acidity with a bit of tannins

  • A great Sangiovese blend, that takes time to flourish. The nose displays aromas of cherries, raspberries with hints of leather, dark chocolate and tobacco. The palate is dry, spicy with punchy acidity. Sour cherry, blackberry and dark chocolate with a hint of smoke are some of the flavours present combined with slightly chewy tannins.

  • Important: Do NOT decant this wine, as it only gets worse !
Considering the vintage 2015, the Brancaia Tre is very disappointing. With (dark meat) food it is yet acceptable, but then falls apart on its own ...
It’s too bad that this wine does not offer enough stuff and material to keep it interesting. After decanting then, joy is completely over and it feels very bland, sour and thin - only the tanin and acid keeps it from being watery ...

Within the last years, I could often observe, that longtime established and renowned names suddenly showed up in supermarkets. I tried them (other examples La Rioja Alta, Pesquera, a.s.o.) and must state, that quality (and mostly price also) was mainly down in comparison to the time they were available in specialized trade only. Brancaia Tre is one of them.

  • Flat finish, better with food ( eggplant parmigiana)
