Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • INitially smells quite old - mushroomy, a little VA and something a bit like old libraries.
The fruit has faded but it still tastes vital. There's some slightly sherried notes or perhaps old school white rioja and then layers of butterscotch, vanilla, mushrooms and forest floor notes all held together with a bracing acidity. It seems to get younger the longer it's in the glass with brown apples coming to the fore.
The sweetness has really receded so it's about the level of an spatlese, there's so much acidity that it barely seems sweet at all.
    A fascinating wine
