  • Domaine Laroche Chablis 2016 Premier Cru Fourchaume Vieilles Vignes is an exceptional wine that showcases the best of Chablis terroir. We visited this winery in the summer of 2018. Of course the wine is 100% Chardonnay.

In the glass, the wine exhibits a bright and pale golden color, hinting at its freshness and purity.

The nose is captivating, revealing an array of aromas. Vibrant citrus notes of lemon zest and grapefruit intermingle with hints of green apple and white flowers. There is a subtle mineral character that reflects the unique soil of the Chablis region.

The palate confirms the nose. Here this wine truly shines. It offers a perfect balance of fruit and acidity. Crisp flavors of lemon and green apple dominate, accompanied by a touch of ripe pear. The wine displays remarkable precision and purity, with a backbone of steely minerality that adds depth and complexity.

Finish: The finish is long and refreshing, leaving a lingering impression of citrus and a touch of salinity, characteristic of Chablis wines.

Overall, Domaine Laroche Chablis 2016 Premier Cru Fourchaume Vieilles Vignes is an outstanding expression of Chablis. It showcases the unique characteristics of the region, with its vibrant fruit, lively acidity, and distinctive mineral notes. This wine pairs beautifully with seafood, particularly oysters, shellfish, and grilled fish dishes ( as we did when we tasted it). It is a wine that can be enjoyed now or cellared for further development, as it has the potential to age gracefully.PM 93

  • Corked :( The minerality did come through, but there was no fruit at all.

  • Pale gold color. Expressive nose of lemon verbena, tangerine peel, crushed oyster shell, clove and hazelnut. Great verve and intensity to the flavors, with nice richness and depth to the middle. Bright and fleshy in its structure, rounding out with polish and nice length on the finish. Terrific bottle, great expression, drink or hold.

  • France and Italy - May 6 to May 10, 2019: Alluring aromas with hints of hazelnut spices, lime zest, wet stone and slate. Silky rich palate with crunchy vivid fruit and layered floral, mineral and spices. Terrific middle palate with solid depth, ending with good length. Excellent.
