First time I have this wine. Impressed! It is very powerful. You can taste the wood. Good with strong cheeses and meat with fat. Outstanding. (Yes I don’t use normal wine nomenclature ☺️)

Deep, opaque ruby. Med (+) black fruit, violets, tar, herbs (fennel), leather, sweet baking spices. Aged 24 mos in French oak barrique and Slavonian oak casks and then another 24 mos in bottle before release. Dry but with really nice black cherry and plum fruit. The acidity, tannins, minerality and alcohol (13.5%) are all med (+). It is drinking well at 7 years but is likely to improve over the next 3 to 10 years. This is a very impressive wine at a reasonable price.

WSET Level 3; 11/3/2019-2/3/2020 (San Diego, CA): Deep garnet; Med+ intensity, developing aromas of baking spices, dark fruit, earth. High acid, high tannins, intense flavors of dark fruit, charred oak, chewy tannins, ash tray, tobacco, roasted game... deliciously intense.
