I wonder if the scores reflect a fundamental anti-Malbec bias. This is a really interesting wine, with a slightly bitter edge that makes the average Malbec sweetie seem dull - as they are. This on the other hand is good. Fun wine worth the money.

Black cherry nose with a Brett funk. Cherry blackberry cough syrup and barnyard with very soft tannins and muted acidity that paired well with the charcoal bbq Wagu skirt steak and roasted sweet potato.

So.....almost Old World in style, VERY different from the Las Acequias oak Malbec of 2013, 2015, and the somewhat disapponting 2017. On nose: damp earth, barnyard notes and ferns. On palate:follow through of the above flavours , as well as a dense puree of red fruit, with a more salty than sweet aspect( but not as intense as Umeboshi salt plums).....as it unfolds , after a 2 hour decant, notes of cinnamon and coffee emerge, displayed with clean acidity, full bodied, but lean.....reminiscent of Cahors. Civilized alcohol ( 13.5%).....good steak wine.

Dark berry nose with a hint of barnyard that carries through on the palate. Lengthy warm finish.

Plum and barnyard nose. Plum fruit lightly stewed with soft acidity and modest tannins. Lengthy finish that begs for more.
