  • Fine but not particularly memorable - no formal note taken

  • $20 at The Wine House in SF of real northern rhone syrah from a fine producer from a good vintage. What's not to like?

  • With beef stew. At opening, acidic, thinnish and astringent. Then it just blossomed. Never got fat or flabby, but put on some heft, meaty notes, fruit notes, mostly black fruit like dark plums, blackberries. This is N. Rhone syrah, where a lot of C-H is modern, riper than tradition dictates, more New World. If Rosso di Montalcino can be baby Brunello, this is baby Hermitage. Wish I bought more.
