What a superb Gevrey for the price ($36 via SommSelect). It has everything you'd expect, and quite a lot more given the price. I would have been happy if it had cost $50+. Very fine tannins make it accessible now, even if the darker-fruited (for Burgundy) notes were a little slow to open up. Perfect on the second night. Would certainly buy again at this price. Great find. Have other Esmonin wines that I am waiting to try, too.

A glass in a wine menu. Such a beautiful rich pinot-from-Gevrey nose; and the slight disappointment in the mouth of the light and somewhat acidic taste. You could also say that this is what a village Gevrey should be - a refined and fragrant food wine wiht no claims to greatness apart from the price. But the nose ...

A wine that walks the line of ruggedness and elegance. Black cherry, raspberry and rose with licorice, tar, forest floor, savory herbs, baking spice and some overarching dusty character. Soft tannins and medium+ acid. On the palate this wine is round with the acid providing a lovely tangy quality. Some plum sweetness comes out on the palate with dried leaves on the finish and tar overtones. As I continue to smell this wine, I am reminded of the aromas of a wilderness campsite where a fire was just put out. Excellent juice!

Nothing to add to the previous reviewers. Really a great Gevrey.
