  • On the nose… wonderful and funky. On the midpalate… fresh young Pinot fruit. On the finish… austere, dry, green, stem tannin. 100% young Burgundy that may get better with some time in bottle.

  • Single bottle bought on release, sound cork. Typical Esmonin lighter style, can be drunk now, Gevrey flavor sets, at end of day both satisfying and true to appellation. Probably better at 10-15 years but... opened tonight. Super value as typical for Esmonin, bravo. Sophisticated . This is Clos Prieur.

  • Excellent
Loved this after decanting for a few hours. I swear the first thing I got in the nose was lemon then some crunchy pop rocks thing but it was all in a good way! Cherry comes in, then some mushroom and subtle smoke. Finesse here. Went well with a braised lamb shank dish with preserved lemons (I did taste the wine away from the food before dinner!), nicoise olives, and prunes.

  • Lesfleurs+: A new producer to me, and I really enjoyed this bottle. Gentle red fruit and tea notes along with some oak-derived spice, knit together quite seamlessly. A lighter bodied style I suspect has a bit more upside still.

  • This medium-to-deep ruby wine serves up an attractive aromatic profile of Montmorency cherries, raspberries, orange zest, lavender and black tea. Medium-bodied, fresh, judiciously oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 12.5%), it delivers flavors similar to the aromas, adding notes of coriander and nutmeg in a milieu of fine-grained tannins. Beautifully persistent on the mid-palate and lengthy on the back end, this is an excellent village-level Gevrey-Chambertin that should easily reach its fifteenth birthday. This particular bottle was uncorked and poured. Give it 1-2 hours of air if possible, as the aromatics dramatically improve during that time frame. Drink now-2033.
