  • Medium ruby colour. Medium (+) and developing nose with strawberry, ripe raspberry, ripe red cherry, forest floored mushrooms, charred wood, ruffles, dried herbs and violet. Medium (+) taste of ripe raspberry, ripe red cherry, forest floor, wet leaves, mushrooms, charred wood, dried herbs and ripe red currant. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Light tannins. Medium body. A very good Saint Romain Rouge that has warmer fruit than the 2017 vintage, and more fruit than the 2013 vintage. Drink now or next couple years.

  • Deep ruby. Generous nose filled with freshly crushed raspberries and wild strawberries. Lovely pinot perfume! Light and fresh on the palate with bright red fruit and initially quite forward acidity. However the fruit element evolves with some air and after an hour it steps up and balances out the acidity in a very nice way. Light and polished tannins give the wine a good grip and structure.

Compared to the Chevillon/Radio Coteau comparison I posted recently, I would say that the nose on this one is fruitier and more welcoming than Chevillon (i.e. leaning more towards the US) however the palate is tight and precise as you could expect from a good Burgundy wine. It does not have the earthy notes of the NsG though, but neither the complexity. But at less than half the price of a 1er Chevillon, this is an excellent buy

  • Clean and delicious Pinot Noir aromas. Tight and focused in the mouth, with good acidity. Guess this will last several years, still.

  • Some leather, taste of cherries and blackcurrant. Soft and velvety.

  • Quite dark at the start but a lighter red bouquet is arriving with some time in the glass. Acidity makes a great spine in the wine, great balance and good length. At this level - a really great buy!

For me this is good to go now, will probable evolve for some years still, but there is just something about that youthful fruit which is really charming.
