This pours light ruby in the glass with some purple and pink toward the rim. The nose is inexpressive even with 24 hours of air showing cranberry, pomegranate, peonies, dry dusty soil and shrubby herbs. The palate enters on tart and lean red fruit with medium minus tannin and medium acid, turning quite tart and sour on the finish. The finis his a tad clipped on the shrubby plant notes. All in all here we have a simple and straightforward bottle of red Saint Roman that isn't particularly expressive which I find a tad surprising for the flamboyant 2019 vintage. Drinks like a fairly basic Bourgogne rouge, though I could see some potential for improvement with age.

Wildberry with a hint of floral on the nose, velvety mouthfeel with medium body and medium acid making for a balanced and structured impression, is firm with flavors of raspberry, baking spice and black tea, dry earth on the finish, could and should soften more with time in the cellar, however is charming now

This pulls no punches. One of the boldest expressions of Pinot I’ve encountered from the Côte d’Or. A floral and playful nose - violets meet bubblegum! - backed up with a firm, dark fruited core. Tightly wound with total balance. Finishes as smoothly as it starts. For me, no need to go any fancier with this domaine, meaning I’ll buy more of this over the Gevrey-Chambertin or Morey St Denis.

Litt upresis og grov pinot fra 45 år gamle stokker. Trad vinifikasjon. Druepreg men mangler litt eleganse i frukt. Kantete på smak.
